Play-based Learning
Children attempt to make sense of the world around them through active involvement with their environment which includes people, space, equipment, and routines. They learn by observing what happens when they interact with materials and other people. They also grow in mastery and self-esteem when they learn along with others – both children and adults.
We believe that the physical environment is particularly important for young children. To support the goals we set for the children, we try to provide a thoughtful arrangement of the indoor and outdoor environments as well as opportunities to use a range of spaces and activities. A well-defined classroom, including areas for books, dramatic play, blocks, art, sand and water, music and movement, a safe area for outdoor play, and a chance for children to make individual choices about where they want to play to encourage independence, decision making, and involvement.
